JCL v. Scilab

        Scilab is an open source software for numerical computation. It has the macro, "bandwr", for bandwidth reduction. The macro, "bandwr", run the code of algorithm 582 (a.k.a GPS), collected algorithms from acm, for bandwidth reduction. Undoubtedly, GPS is widely applied in bandwidth reduction.

        Due to "bandwr" applies the official code of GPS for bandwidth reduction, the comparison of JCL and "bandwr" of Scilab is identical to the comparison of JCL and GPS. JCL completely beats GPS in bandwidth reduction. For detail, check the page JCL v. GPS
